I received phishing texts

(I do not have Xfinity voice.)  Xfinity sent texts out to let customers know about an outage because of repairs. All is well. Thank you. However, today I received disturbing texts. The first one sent said that an outage for my services was repaired and that I should respond with status by inputting 1 or 2. There was no indication from where the text originated. Xfinity and other utilities clearly indicate who sent a text. It's too much of coincidence for me that this possible phishing text came right after a legitimate outage. While I was setting up my computer to report this, I received a second text, asking if I found the messaging service useful? Again, no indication of origination, but requesting a response by pressing 1 or 2. This is very aggressive phishing and piggybacking off Xfinity. Letting you know that this may be a prelude to getting access to your system through your customer base.

We truly appreciate your time in reaching out to us here on our Xfinity Forums and letting us know of this experience. I understand that we can never be too careful these days, I get scam calls and messages all the time! YI would recommend reaching out to our Customer Security Assurance team at 1-888-565-4329 to report the text messaging. They are available 7 days a week from 6 AM - 2 AM EST. Or you can visit: https://comca.st/3d9B7hi and then in the top left corner select "Report Abuse".

Thank you for responding. But here's the thing, getting scam messages and phone calls, then ignoring them, is how the scammers get a foothold. The community needs to be notified so that the spread can be analyzed to possibly indicate the point of attack. I came from the information systems security community. Treating scam or phishing messages and calls as white noise only leads to trouble. The community together has the power to stop or at least slow down scammers. Also, on your website, please provide a link for reporting fraud or abuse. I do not participate in social networking.

I tried to go to the web address you gave me, but it doesn't exist. Are you sure you gave me the correct address?
