I received an email about a cancellation request, but I never made a request

How should I proceed? It said today would be my last day of service. I work from home, so losing my internet wouldn't allow me to work. I live in a two-family house. The unit below me moved out, and someone may be moving in and trying to open an account under the same address, hence my cancelation (from a frustrating time trying to contact someone/research if the email was a scam). Please advise.
