I can't schedule a callback

I am trying to schedule a callback and I keep getting some stupid screen telling me that 

We're having some trouble scheduling your callback

Try again or visit our support site for more help.

Which is of no help whatsoever.  I need to make an adjustment to a payment plan and normally I'd just do that through the chat with an agent but the virtual assistant refuses to let me make any adjustments and says that the wait time for an agent is too long and to try again later (which is absolutely not helpful).  I just want to request the adjustment without having to call in because life is too short to wait on hold for two or three hours.
