How to shutdown my Xfinity internet and voice service.

I am dropping Xfinity internet/voice after all these years and want to ensure that I do this correctly. I *think* as soon as the new internet is hooked up, I need to take the Xfinity gateway device to an Xfinity store and turn it in, letting them know that I am cancelling the 2 services. The workers at the store are able to update my account to Include only the Xfinity TV service without any other Comcast processing needed. I also need to work with the new voice provider to ensure I get my phone number deactivated on Xfinity and activated on the new network. This is something the new voice provider should do by working with Xfinity. I can continue to use my comcast email address by logging into my comcast account within a week of dropping Xfinity internet.

Please let me know if I am missing ANYTHING that might result in a problem with this transition of my Internet and Voice services. I want this to go as smoothly as possible!

Thank you

TimDH Thank you so much for stopping in for help with transitioning your services to TV only. You are pretty on point with all that; however, the porting of your home phone number would need to be done before the cancellation of your home phone services. To make sure that the number is able to be moved, it will need to be active until the other provided brings it over for you. We can also help remove the other services for you here if you would like so all you would need to do is drop off the equipment at an Xfinity store location.

Thanks for the information/confirmation. If anything else pops up when dealing with the new provider, I may be back with more questions.

Good morning @TimDH If there is anything we can do to continue to earn your business, please let us know. We would hate to see you leave us. With that said, if you do decide to cancel services, you can absolutely do so in person at one of our amazing store locations when you bring in your equipment to return. It is best not to cancel the Xfinity services until your new provider has services up and running for you.

HI;

I have tried to keep Xfinity internet by dealing with Comcast/Xfinity for the last 3 months. There are no "deals" to be had that would keep Xfinity services within the realm of what the competition is offering (this has been confirmed by Xfinity reps on here). I was always a big fan of Xfinity internet, but it is no longer top level service for a decent price. So Xfinity internet and voice are the first services to be dropped, TV will follow as the price is going to jump way up because I will no longer be a service bundle.

TimDH I'm happy to take a look just to be sure :). Please send a direct message by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, click on the pen and paper icon, then enter “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section. Include your name and address so I can find the account and get started on a resolution.
