How to get a Xfinity 4k - XG1v4 Cable Box?

Recently upgraded to a 4k TV and need to upgrade my cable box to one that supports 4k. Can someone please help me with this?

Do you have an Xfinity store close by?  You should be able to take your current cable box to the store and exchange/upgrade it.  You could also call 800-XFINITY or 800-COMCAST to talk to an agent.  A third option is to chat here with an agent by clicking on the messaging icon (upper right) and in TO: field, type 'Xfinity Support'.

Hello @user_d3d84a, thanks for reaching out to us on our Forums page. We appreciate you being a customer with us and for your interest in getting a 4K DVR. @jav6joev provided some very helpful suggestions, thank you! My team can absolutely assist you as well with setting up a shipment for a 4K box to be sent out to you. You may also have the option on your end through your current X1 cable box options, to order it yourself. If you try to watch 4K programming but you don’t have the right TV Box, you’ll see a pop-up message on your screen that lets you order it right from your TV. You’ll be able to swap if your TV is 4K-capable and if your existing TV Box is eligible to be swapped out.

If you have any troubles doing so, please send us a Private Chat Message and we would be more than happy to help! To send us a Private Chat Message, select the message icon in the top right corner and then search for Xfinity support. With our new Xfinity support chat, you do not need to input the name of a person. Just select Xfinity support and you will be able to speak with the next available specialist.

... and then search for Xfinity support ...

"Search for Xfinity Support" is not good advice, as the only "search" that appears on the initial peer-to-peer screen won't find "Xfinity Support" unless the user has already sent a message to them or received one from them.

Instead:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/peer-to-peer-chat
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it
