How to configure a Gateway in Bridge mode. Can no longer do it via webpage and no option in App.

My Gateway is in bridge mode. I used to be able to administer it via http://10.0.0.1 but I can no longer do that. I cannot do it via the app either. How can I now configure my gateway?

The xFinity Assistant was, unfortunately, completely useless and gave a non-sensical answer to the question above. I asked to be transferred to an agent, but no luck.

If I go to http://10.0.0.1 I get the message to use the app instead. But when I log in to the app and go to the WiFi tab, there is no option to configure the Gateway either. And I cannot turn on admin tool access (as Support articles mention), since um, there is no option to do so. So I am now stuck in an infinite loop.

XBond Thanks for creating a post. I know that my team can help enable Bridge Mode for you, but I understand wanting the ability to do so through self-service functions. In the Xfinity app, do you see the option available when using these steps?

  • Open the Xfinity app.
  • Go to WiFi → View WiFi Equipment → Advanced Settings.
  • Enable Admin Tool Online Access and save.

@XfinityThomasD My gateway is already in bridge mode, so you do not need to do that for me.

No, there is no 'View WiFi Equipment' option on the WiFi tab in the app.

The WiFi is turned off on the Gateway. I just want it to act as a simple bridge and nothing else.

We appreciate you confirming those details @XBond! For troubleshooting purposes, please hold the WPS button down for 30 seconds. This will reset the gateway and require the Xfinity app to activate it. Once activated, the steps above should work to re-enable access to configuring it in the gateway admin tool.

@XfinityAldrik Before I do that:

  1. The WPS button - that's the button on the back of the Gateway, right? Above all the ports?
  2. What happens when I do that? Will I have to reconfigure the Gateway? Is it reset back to username=admin, password=on the label on the bottom of the Gateway?
  3. Once the Gateway is reset, I have to start the app and activate the Gateway?

I work from home, so I cannot afford to have any significant downtime.

Holding down the WPS button for 30 seconds will factory reset the gateway. Right now, the Xfinity app and the gateway admin tool are stuck requiring a factory reset. Once factory reset, the option for enabling admin tool online access should appear and allow access to gateway admin tool site without encountering that message advising to use the app. Are you able to reset the gateway after work @XBond?
