How the Heck Do I Get an Internet Only Service?
I have had it up to here with trying to upgrade my stuff. For a company that wants my money, Xfinity seems pretty determined to make me unenthused about giving them more of it. Here's the skinny...
I got my plan a long time ago. It was 75Mbps at like $85/month(not including fees). I got grandfathered into their 100Mbps system a few years back. Now I don't know when it happened, but at some point I got this TV thing bundled into the account(probably when I moved). So they sent a stupid box I don't use that's supposed to give me like 30 channels I never watch. And their charging me almost $9/month extra for this thing I never asked for. But whatever.
Come to now, and I would like to upgrade my internet plan. Since my plan is ancient, the site says I have to customize a new one. Fair enough. But as I go through the process, there are things I can't remove. It says I have to get a TV service, the minimum is 10+ channels. Go a little farther and it tells me I need a tv box. Which I guess is for the forced TV service the plan comes with. I assume the $20 Broadcast TV fee on my bills is cause of this forced TV service, since I have no clue how it would relate to the internet. Skip through the rest and avoid any extra fees until we get to the review plan part.
The price for the internet on its own is what I'd consider reasonable, and something I'm willing to pay for. But it's ruined by all the freaking TV stuff. $9/month for the TV box I don't want. Then there's the $20/month Broadcast TV fee for the TV service I don't want. It totals an extra $30+/month for a TV service I have no intention to use and DO NOT WANT. I don't even think I still have they original box they dumped on me. If I don't, I will happily pay whatever stupid lost equipment fee Xfinity wants to charge me for lost equipment so they stop putting those extra charges on my bill. Even though through the course of the years I've probably paid 10X what that thing was worth from the fee alone.
I just want internet. And I'm willing to pay Xfinity more money for a better internet plan. I just don't want all those stupid TV costs they're trying to toss on my lap. Besides, its 2022. Nobody uses TV anymore! Some help would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm content to NOT give Xfinity more of my money if they plan to make me pay for [Edited: Profanity] I don't want.
