How many agents are scamming on Xfinity? Looking to Pursue legal action.

*PLEASE DO NOT OPEN A SINGLE LINK ON THIS POST*

I want to make this as publicly accessible as possible. Xfinity has scammers that actively work under their payroll. I have been working thought the chat assistance with Xfinity for the last hour to get my bill reduced, and during that time:

I was offered a lower bill through Xfinity (from $115 to $100), and I was told I'd receive a iPad (A16) included with the deal.

They then asked for my social security number through: [Edited: "Personal Information"]

* I provided this because I'm an idiot and thought since it was a secure link from Xfinity chat directly it had to be safe.

After this, they continued to request additional vital information to my well being, including a second link to input my DOB, card info, and other details through: [Edited: "Personal Information"]

I realized at this point that this was surely a scam/fraud. The issue here is that not only was the first chat agent trying to scam me, but after identifying it and ending the chat to reactively ensure security existed on my SSN, the next multiple chat agents all tried the same methods on me!! This is absurd, and has to be a legal mishandling from a well reputed ISP like Xfinity.

Since this occurred, I have downloaded and purchased a year of identity protection through Aura, although I feel the damage has already been done. I am thinking of pursuing ways to get legal actions taken on Xfinity at this point, because I believe this has to be a breach of contract or customer care legal policies to allow this many scammers to work under the guise of a support agent, rather than a blatant scam.

Has anybody else ever dealt with this? For context, I will be posting this same post on Reddit (r/Comcast_Xfinity), Xfinity forums, and anywhere else I believe it should be shared.

The concern is not "Home Networking" help related........... Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hello jaejaefig , We appreciate you posting on Xfinity Forums. To hopefully alleviate some of your concerns iGuard is a security service we use to protect customer information when ordering over the phone or through chat platforms. It allows you to type that information and keeps it private from us employees on this end while still allowing our order program to get what it needs while avoiding putting that information into the chat directly. Whenever you order new phones or tablets through us, you will be asked to provide your social and birthdate for two reasons. 1st being for fraud reasons we need to verify the information matches the account holder information since some of these new devices are upwards of $1500+. The next is for the system to perform a soft credit inquiry that determines a spending limit on new devices.

In this case we are currently running offers on the iPad A16 for 50% off the tablet in the form of credits of $10.41/mo for 24m so long as you keep the tablet line for the 24m.

We understand your concerns and many people prefer not to provide that information through those types of channels of communication. But you can still get the deal and provide the social and birthdate in person if you are uncomfortable providing it through chat or over the phone.
