How is it legal to have a monopoly on internet services in an area?

This is hands down the worst company I have ever had this displeasure of dealing with.  I am an IT professional with 15+ years of experience and have been complaining about the quality and stability of my internet connection for a year and a half (since I moved).  It is beyond clear that there are issues with the local infrastructure because my internet will completely stop working for 1-5 hours on any given day, then suddenly start working again for another two weeks.  This is not a modem problem... this is not a router problem...  This is an ISP issue and I am being treated like I do not matter.

I have NO other options for service providers in my area.  It is remarkable that the government allows this collusion to go on.

Word of advice.  Dump the automated troubleshooting systems... They don't work and only [Edited: "Language"]...  You'd think somebody would be wise enough to look at the countless forum posts on this topic and prioritize their concerns...

Hello @user_489323 and thank you! I really appreciate you being a member of the Comcast Family! Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:

  1. In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon near the bell icon. Click the direct message icon
  2. Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  3. In the 'To' line, type "Xfinity Support" there. A drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list (an "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line)
  4. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  5. Press Enter to send it. An official employee, such as myself or whoever is first available, will respond. Thanks!
I am an Official Xfinity Employee.
