How do I have a coaxial line replaced?
A contractor recently cut the coaxial cable between the edge of our property and the house. I'm wondering how we (the homeowners) can get it replaced properly. My questions are:
- Are we required to have Xfinity replace the line, or can we have the work done by a third-party contractor?
- Can Xfinity replace the line?
- If we have a third-party contractor do the work, what standards to they need to adhere to? For instance, cable type (RG11?), burial depth, protective sheath, etc.
Thank you!

Thank you very much for reaching out to us here @Monster803. If there is a cut line like that we would normally recommend having our team replace that line. I will be happy to get that set up if you could send me a direct message with the full name and complete address for your service.
To send a direct message [private message]:
Click the "Direct Message" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
