How do I get my xfinity account cancelled?

I called May 1st to cancel my service completely.  I returned my equipment May 1st.  On May 3rd I did a chat with an agent who told me it was cancelled.  two weeks later I get a bill for the month of May and the Month of June.  I call again and they said no one cancelled my account but he will gladly do it now.  It's now a week later and my account is still open and now they are telling me they are unable to remove the charges for May.  This is ridiculous.

Good afternoon @user_9fzi3d we apologize for the frustrating experience and would be happy to assist. Please send us a DM with your full name and address to Xfinity Support.
To send a direct message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

Is the date on the billing statement before May 1st?  If so, it was generated before you cancelled your service.
