Keep in mind that a "remote" problem might be caused by the remote not sending the correct signals, OR by the device receiving the signals not processing them correctly. With that in mind, try:
Unplugging the cable box for a minute or so to reset it
Changing the batteries in the remote
Replacing the remote
Replacing the box
Consider getting another remote so you have a spare. Test the spare to make sure it's working, then remove the batteries (so they don't drain and cause corrosion), and maybe store it with a copy of the programming instructions from https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/programming-your-xfinity-remote.
