How do I delete a personal email on my comcast account?

There is no way to "Change email to edit". I want to CLOSE the comcast.net email account for my mother who has been dead for over a year. I have spent days on this, and cannot get it done. WHY? This should be very simple. I have even supplied an official death certificate yet I cannot close the account. Extremely frustrating, considering my cell phone number is on the account which has been hacked. Somehow, some way, PLEASE provide a way to close email accounts, especially for dead people.

To confirm, is the email address that you're trying to delete also the primary username for the account? If so, it cannot be deleted because It is the sign-in credential for the account.
