How do I delete a personal email on my comcast account?

The personal email address is a company I no longer work for and have since retired.

There is no way to "Change email to edit". I want to CLOSE the comcast.net email account for my mother who has been dead for over a year. I have spent days on this, and cannot get it done. WHY? This should be very simple. I have even supplied an official death certificate yet I cannot close the account. Extremely frustrating, considering my cell phone number is on the account which has been hacked. Somehow, some way, PLEASE provide a way to close email accounts, especially for dead people.

Hello, @user_b804n2. Thank you for reaching our Forums team. Please receive our condolences for the loss of your mother. To confirm, is the email address that you're trying to delete also the primary username for the account? If so, it cannot be deleted because It is the sign-in credential for the account. If it is a secondary username/email you can erase it by following the step-by-step instructions provided in this link. Have you requested to close the account?
