Help acquiring an XB8 Gateway
Hello. Due to Xfinity's new policy requiring their use of their own modem to receive unlimited data, I ordered a gateway. I received an XB7, which is not capable of delivering my full speed of 1200mbps. A chat agent directed me to a local Xfinity store, but with no apparent way to directly contact a store, I don't want to waste my time to go only to find out they have none available. Can a representative help me in receiving an XB8 gateway? Thank you.

Hello @sczm! Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your night to leave a post on our community forum. I would be more than happy to help answer all your questions and concerns. First, you do not need to rent one of our modems to receive unlimited data, the only difference is the pricing if you rent a modem from us or if you own your own modem. As for your gateway, your XB7 is more than capable of processing your speeds and more, so you don't need an XB8 to receive your services. Please check out this link to see all the features and speed capabilities for our modems: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/broadband-gateways-userguides Finally we do not have direct phone numbers for our Xfinity Service Centers, so there wouldn't be a way to call them, and we can not guarantee they will have any XB8 modems in stock. Also, even if we try to ship one out to you, we can not guarantee you will receive one either since they are in high demand. If you need help with troubleshooting your XB7 to see why you're not receiving your speeds then I would be more than happy to do so. Please check out our troubleshooting guide first to see if that helps as well: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/connection-troubleshooting-tips/602da777c5375f08cdea3db9?linkId=147272623
