Heartbroken and disappointed: Deeply upsetting experience with the Xfinity Emmy Sweepstakes Grand Prize Trip

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart to share the deeply distressing experience my mother and I had on our recent Xfinity Emmy Sweepstakes grand prize trip. What was supposed to be a celebratory, once-in-a-lifetime dream trip instead became a source of severe anxiety, physical exhaustion, and immense disappointment due to a severe lack of communication and organization on Comcast's part.
For the two months leading up to this trip, communication was barely nonexistent. I went weeks at a time without hearing a single word from anyone. Whenever I reached out with basic questions regarding trip logistics or tried to plan our hair and makeup, my questions took forever to get answered. I was repeatedly given the runaround, only to eventually be told that the person handling it was on vacation and no one else could help me. Then, less than 48 hours before we were scheduled to depart, I was suddenly hit with all of the trip details at the absolute last minute. This extreme delay and lack of timely support left me scrambling and profoundly stressed before we even left home.
The issues only escalated from there:
  • Last-Minute Transportation Changes: Ground transportation was explicitly included in the prize description. Yet, less than 48 hours before our departure, I was informed it was canceled and that I had to navigate Los Angeles and arrange all transit myself using the provided gift card—a card that was supposed to be for our own personal enjoyment and dining.
  • Substandard Accommodations: The hotel experience was far from relaxing. Our room was dirty, and the overall environment did not match the caliber of a grand prize trip. By the time we arrived, the cumulative stress already had me in tears.
  • Zero Event Guidance: On the day of the Emmy Awards, we were given absolutely no direction on where to go, what to do, or who to speak with. We felt completely abandoned in a massive, chaotic environment.
  • Unacceptable Seating: We were placed in the absolute highest nosebleed section. We could not see the stage or even the screen because our view was entirely blocked by the people sitting in front of us.
  • Safety and Physical Injury: Following the event, the rideshare instructions were so confusing and poorly coordinated that we could not locate an Uber. I was forced to walk a massive distance back to the hotel in event footwear, leaving my feet covered in painful blisters.
  • Flight Downgrade on the Return Trip: While we were upgraded on the way to Los Angeles, we were downgraded on our flight back, forced to fly home in a lower class of service when we were already physically exhausted, in pain, and desperate for a comfortable ride home.
This trip caused so much severe anxiety and stress that I am actually seeing a doctor today to deal with the physical and emotional aftermath.
I know Comcast prides itself on rewarding its customers and creating special experiences, but the execution of this trip was entirely unfair to my mother and me. I am reaching out to this group in the sincere hope that someone will look at the reality of what we endured and take meaningful action to make this right.
