Goodbye Xfinity- Hello FIOS
I will tell you quite honestly, I thought dish network was bad, it's got nothing on Comcast/Xfinity. About a year ago I called the 800 number because my gardener accidently sliced my cable line. I was told no problem we'll get you a service appt and "oh bye the way, your eligible for a free upgrade because your plan is so old". My radar immediately pinged, I asked some very specific questions: 1. Would my channel line up change? 2. Would this lock me into a contract? Would the upgrade in any way, shape or form change the amount I was paying? I was told "oh no absolutely not". A link was texted to my phone, I opened it and began to review the info. With a hint of irritation in her voice the agent told me "you have to sign it very quickly for it to process" In other words, just sign it fast and don't bother to read it. I signed and got home to find my channel lineup completely changed, my account in some sort of "promotion status" and on contract and my bill was now more, not less. I raised holy **** with comcast and they never really fixed it, just shunted me from one rep to another until I finally just gave up. I gave up but I did not forget. Xfinity lost my trust, period. They will have to earn it back if I ever decide to give them the opportunity, I seriously doubt I will. What used to feel like a friendly, local cable provider has morphed into a gargantuan system of constant upsells and outsourced employees with no accountability. The installers, the field techs and (most) of the store people have been great, I've never had a bad interaction when dealing with Xfinity face to face. The people answering the phones are a whole other story and the young woman who answered the phone when I called this past year has costed Xfinity a loyal customer of 50 years. Goodbye and good luck.
