Gift Card Expiration

This is my 2nd inquiry.

I received a $200 gift card when I transferred my cellular service from Verizon to Xfinity.  The card was put in my wallet, never activated, and forgotten.  The expiration on my card was 9/23; Visa Debit card no. [Edit: Personal Information].

Because I am in Michigan (and I believe this holds true for other states) there is a five-year term prior to expiration of a gift card.  Because of this, I am requesting a replacement in accordance with MI Compiled Laws noted below and a confirmation this request was received at my email.

Thanks for your prompt attention and I look forward to your response.

445.903g Expiration of gift certificate; limitation.

Sec. 3g.

A person engaged in the retail sale of goods or services shall not sell a gift certificate to a consumer that expires within a period of less than 5 years.

ahh I just had this issue too, so I'm making this my first official post so I can access direct messages :)

I had called the number on the cards sticker and they told me they couldn't do anything about it, but I found a bunch of posts about what you mentioned above, so hopefully that works.

I also have this exact issue. Same as the use above me it seems that I need to make a post before I can access the DM functionality.

Yes.  They aren't very clear in making that understood, but they were very helpful on the phone.  That was a stupid error to make a 3-month expiration.  Most states are legally obligated to have an expiration date of at least five year.

I am trying to obtain a replacement card as I also live in a state that permits this for expired cards.

I'm in the same boat and would like to request a reissue. Thanks!
