Gateway and Advanced Security
I have an xfinity CISCO DPC 3939 modem and it is NOT supported by Advanced Security. Since you are dropping Norton why aren't your modems included with the new software package Advanced Security? Because of this inappropriate change by Comcast I will be forced to subscribe to Norton. Question is WHY Comcast?????

They're portraying xFi Advanced Security as a complete replacement for Norton (see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/norton-security-online-sunset), but that's a gross exaggeration. For example, xFi gateways cannot detect threats that arrive in encrypted ("https") data streams. Only software running on the customer's computer or mobile device where the stream is decrypted can do that.
Users who relied on Norton should subscribe to the paid version or install another antivirus program or app to take the place of the AV program Comcast is dropping.

Thanks for your reply. I did talk to customer service and was told to upgrade the modem to one that accepts the new software or just subscribe to Norton and keep your original modem which I rent. Why Comcast could not just leave this alone based on what's going on now in the US is beyond me. People do not have the extra money now to put out on security software. Comcast should be ashamed.

There are free options that are nearly as good as paid software and far superior to "xFi Advanced Security". See, for example, https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-free-antivirus-protection.
