Fraudulent service

My comcast internet went down around 11:30 am May 15 2023. I found this number ( do not call them) [Edited: "Personal Information"].  Spoke to someone with a very heavy , indecipherable accent.

I explained the situation.  She asked me to recycle my modem, which I did.  Still no internet connection. She said she would assign a Service Tech to visit me today between the hours of 5 and 6 pm.

she then require that i give her a Credit card (Big Mistake on my part.). So I ended the call thinking I had requested a service Tech.

Well about 10 min later my CC Bank sent me an alert stating that I had made

a purchase (221.85 was charged to my CC) from COMCAST CHICAGO. The alarm bells when off . I didn't think that Comcast would charge my CC before the service was rendered.  Well I will dispute the charges with my CC

bank but BEWARE of the indecipherable accented Fake Customer support who asks for you CC info. I canceled the CC so no more charges would be posted from this Lesson.

Thank you.  The same thing happened to me this morning. Yesterday I fell to a scam thinking I was paying the first few months of my Comcast bill for a good Target/Comcast promotion. Although I lost some money, but was on to them last night.  Sure enough, this morning, a heavily accented woman calls claiming to be from Comcast security. It went to voicemail.  BEWARE of anybody wanting payment through gift cards! I learned my lesson the hard way.
