Fraud

I was called about my service being over 200.00.  Was told I could sign up for deals. Assumed my contract needed updating.  After several minutes I was told to buy an apple gift card and send to them (claiming to be Xfinity) i ask if i could go to the store they said no.  Told them I was no longer interested and was charged 250.00.  Recieved another call stating if I did not have a conversation with him he would charge me 250.00 again.  Closed my card on file.  Proceeded to call me 22 times within 3 minutes.   My concern was this a scam or actually Xfinity?
