First time over internet monthly data allowance

This is the first time since I have been a customer that I have gone over my monthly data allowance. I am transferring my files from OneDrive to a hard drive after I discovered it lost over four years of videos, handouts, and notes for an advanced Acupressure certification program. Most of the information was still available through the course’s Kajabi portal. However, I lost other important files as well. I still have more files to transfer.

I received an email stating I would be charged for excess data usage. This is the first time I have gone over my monthly allowance. Is there a maximum I can use over my monthly data allowance? Please provide clarification. Is this a standard form email sent out when a monthly data allowance is exceeded? Will I be charged?

@SnazzyJazzy Thanks for posting to the community. Good questions regarding the usage in the home online. All the answers are posted here https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/data-usage-plan. You do get a month of overages credited if it is only once per 12 months. Meaning you can go over by accident, or intentionally if you know it's not common. We understand things happen and do provide that courtesy. The home can continue to use more data with or without the Unlimited Data feature. It is better to add it on if you have increased usage in the home, or are having more people over. Click on the link for more and all the answers.

@XfinityBenny Thank you. This is a one-time event. Once I have everything off OneDrive, I do not expect to have this issue again.

@SnazzyJazzy That is a good approach, and I get ya. I got a new PS5 a couple months ago, and ran up 90% of my data in three days lol. I don't have the add on, so it was certainly an uncommon surprise. So you're aware, if you do go over: a block of 50 GB will be added to your account, and a $10 charge will be applied to your bill automatically. You'll be charged $10 each time we provide you with an additional block of 50 GB of data, with a limit of $100 per month.

Basically if you go over 100 GB's, think about adding the Unlimited Data as it is usually $25 or $30. If you only go over a bit or under 100 GB's, it'll be either $10 or $20 extra depending on what you use. Which is cheaper than the Unlimited Data feature. This and the link covers everything you need to feel comfortable with the usage. If you ever need to add on the feature cause you know there will be more usage, let us know. We're happy to help.
