Escalation Path for Terrible Experience

I am at the end of my rope with Xfinity. What is my last ditch escalation path to get someone who can actually help resolve my issue? All the agents seem to be able to do is to offer a technician which will not fix my problem: a technician has already determined that the issue is outside of my residence. They raised a maintenance ticket and it was closed and I still have no resolution. Below is an outline of my issues and the timeline.

  • On 9/2/26, I contacted Comcast to cancel my service due to the repeated outages I have been experiencing. I was offered a discount with no price increase for 5 years, and I was told by the agent I would be put on a different plan that would have no outages. I took the offer.
  • On the same day, the outages did continue and an appointment was scheduled for 9/8/26 as I wouldn’t be available until then due to traveling over Labor Day weekend.
  • On 9/8/26, a technician came and immediately said that the issue was with my modem (I have my own modem that supports gigabit internet). My modem was replaced with an Xfinity gateway which did not fix the issue and indicated that my modem was indeed not the issue. After a couple of hours of troubleshooting, he determined that the issue was with the outside plant and not my residence. A maintenance ticket was raised by the technician to fix the network problem.
  • On 9/8/26 I received a text from the technician’s supervisor <Edited: Personal Information> asking me to rank the technician a 9 or 10 and “don’t be confused” the survey is about the technician, not the overall experience. <Edited: Personal Information> offered to have me contact him directly if I had further issues.
  • At 19:03 EDT on 9/8/26, I received a text message from Xfinity assistant saying the maintenance was complete and my services should be restored. I confirmed that the services were not restored.
  • At 6:48 EDT on 9/9/26, I received an automated text from Xfinity assistant saying that there “may still be issues” with my service and asked me if I would like to schedule an appointment. I took the next available appointment on 9/15/26.
  • On 9/9/26 at 13:42 EDT, I took <Edited: Personal Information> up on his offer and called him directly. I asked him to look up the maintenance ticket the technician raised and tell me what it said. He said he would look it up and call me back. As of the time of this post, I have not received any callback.
  • At 14:59 EDT, I attempted to use Xfinity assistant to move my appointment. It said I had no appointment scheduled so I was transferred to an agent. All they were able to offer was another technician, and a year free of Xfinity mobile. I told the agent none of that was going to work for me and I ended the chat.
  • Service has been intermittent throughout the day with a downtime of around 64% based on the automated script I ran. The script pings the gateway (10.0.0.1) and Google’s public DNS (8.8.8.8) every two seconds and logs the result in a text file. Note: downdetector.com showed no issues with Google’s public DNS on the same day, so Comcast can’t say this wasn’t a valid test. 8.8.8.8 is a common reference point for network troubleshooting. This tells me when the gateway and the internet are either reachable or unreachable.
  • I received an automated call 17:19 EDT from Xfinity assistant saying my services should be back up. They were not back up.
  • I logged a complaint with the FCC due to the continued outages and lack of resolution, along with the contradictory “issue has been fixed” notifications. This problem goes back months. In fact, the drop line to my residence had previously been replaced due to random disconnects.
  • I took a photo of the modem at 18:44 EDT, with the red indicator light showing after I received the automated call stating that my service had been restored.
  • I restarted the modem at 18:49 EDT
  • The modem completed its restart at 18:52 EDT and showed a white indicator light; I took a photo of the gateway indicator light in this state.
  • White light turned to red at 18:53 EDT.
  • Started the script again at 18:54 EDT. Modem light was red at the time.
  • At 18:58 EDT the modem light was flashing orange. A photo was taken.
  • From the point I started the script until 19:08 EDT, both the gateway and WAN were showing as down.
  • I started seeing both gateway and WAN back up up after 19:08 EDT.
  • This continued for a while with a few small WAN down messages; eventually both the gateway continued to cycle between being up and down.
  • I will let the script continue to run for a full 24 hours and provide this additional data to the FCC, along with the calculated downtime over the next 24 hours.
  • In the meantime, I’m going to take advantage of T-Mobile’s 30 day trial period for their 5G internet. If it’s fast and reliable, I’m done with Comcast.
  • i work from home so not having reliable internet is a non-starter for me.

Hi there, @user_wp8cwp. We appreciate you reaching out about your service. We want that working fast and reliably! Thanks for letting us know you’ve submitted a complaint. Once a regulatory complaint (such as FCC, BBB, or similar) has been opened, that concern is routed to a specialized team for review and handling. Because of this, we’re unable to continue assisting with that specific issue here on the subreddit, to avoid overlapping efforts or conflicting updates. The appropriate team will reach out to you directly using the contact information provided in your complaint within the stated timeframe on your complaint. If you have any separate concerns not included in that complaint, we’re still happy to help with those here.
