Escalation: Fraudulent $400 balance keeps showing up on my credit

Hello Xfinity Support,

I'm reaching out here because I'm stuck in an endless loop with a $400 bill, and I need someone to help me get this permanently resolved.

Here is exactly what happened:

-When I got divorced several years ago and moved out, I completely canceled and turned off the Xfinity service at my old address.

-I then opened a brand new account at my new house. My current account is in great standing, and I've never missed a payment.

-After I moved out, my ex-wife called Xfinity and somehow managed to reactivate my closed account at her house without my permission or authorization. She owns that house by herself, and I do not live there.

-She didn't pay the bill on that reactivated account, and now a $400 charge from Sunrise Collections is sitting under my name.

I've explained this to Xfinity and Sunrise before. I've actually had this removed from my credit report twice already, but it just keeps popping back up.

-There has to be some way to permanently take of this that doesn't involve putting my ex-wife in jail over $400  and not having a collections on my account..Paid or not it still negatively effects your score. The financial responsibility needs to go to the person who actually reactivated and used the service. I really don't want to file formal identity theft charges and put her in jail. I'm hoping there is a way we can handle this administratively.

Please let me know how we can fix this for good so I don't have to deal with this a fourth time.

Thanks,

Michael

Hello @user_m24cl1 Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately these accounts and situations are going to be a little trickier. I'd be happy to look over the account if there are any specific questions you have about it. But the only way to clear a collections balance and get it reported is through our fraud group at the Customer Security Assurance department. They can be contacted at

1-888-565-4329 or by submitting an ID theft claim at spa.xfinity.com which would also go to that same team.
