Equipment update

The site says I am eligible for an equipment update but all it says is we will get a "new TV box".  We just got a new set top box a few months ago.  Can you tell me what the upgrade is for?  Thank you.

Greetings, @user_ilrdle! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about this equipment update. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

First and foremost, if you are happy with your current box, and it does everything you need it to do, you should not need to change it out. Even if you just got a new box a few months ago, it still could have been an older model without all the latest available features, like 4K picture quality, solid state hard drive, wireless connectivity, or streaming app support. Some apps, like Hulu, Disney Plus, and Paramount Plus, tend to work better on our newer devices, according to other members of our community. Were any of these features important to you?

You can find a full list of set-top boxes on our support site here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-hub-vs-companion-box. The newer boxes, like the XG1v4 DVR Box, XiD X1 Box, and XiOne Wireless Box, are listed toward the bottom of each category. If your new box is one of these, you should be fine where you are. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your help James.  Our DVR box is an XG2v2; it works OK but is often seems a little slow to respond.  Is this one of the newer units?

user_ilrdle It is a current box, you can check out all of our X1 Boxes here. Our other models 4K options if you do have a 4K capable TV that may be something to look into. A slow connection may be an issue with the box connecting to your home network. Have you by chance tries to use the Xfinity app for troubleshooting lag?

Thank you again James.  I understand a little better now, so I will take a look at the app and also the other boxes that are available as possible upgrades. I appreciate your help.
