DVR and NBA League Pass
Dear Xfinity Advanced Technical Support,
I am requesting technical assistance and escalation of an ongoing issue involving my Xfinity X1 DVR and NBA League Pass subscription.
Account and Equipment Information
-
Service: Xfinity Cable Television and Internet
-
Subscription: NBA League Pass through Xfinity
-
Equipment: Newest-generation Xfinity X1 cable/DVR box, installed Saturday, October 24, 2026
-
Preferred NBA Team: San Antonio Spurs
Description of the Problem
I have configured my X1 DVR to automatically record all San Antonio Spurs games by searching for the Spurs and selecting the option to record all games.
Although the DVR successfully identifies and schedules the Spurs games, it consistently selects the NBA League Pass broadcast featuring the opposing team's announcers rather than the San Antonio Spurs broadcast.
NBA League Pass provides separate broadcast feeds for each team. As a Spurs fan, I specifically want to watch the broadcasts featuring the Spurs' television announcers and production team.
Currently, I must manually locate the Spurs broadcast channel and schedule a separate recording for each game. This defeats the purpose of the automatic team-recording feature.
Troubleshooting Already Performed
I have attempted the following without success:
-
Configured the DVR to record all San Antonio Spurs games using the team-search feature.
-
Selected the San Antonio Spurs through the NBA League Pass interface and attempted to establish recordings directly from the Spurs broadcast feed.
-
Reviewed the X1 DVR recording settings, including Airing Type, Channels, Save, Keep, Start, and Stop.
-
Examined the Channels settings, which offer only HD Preferred and SD Preferred, with no option to select a preferred team broadcast.
-
Tested the Airing Type settings, including All Programming, Live Game, and Live Programming.
-
Checked the scheduled recordings and confirmed that the DVR continues to select only the opposing team's broadcast.
-
Attempted to establish a new recording rule directly from the Spurs broadcast, without resolving the issue.
Requested Resolution
I would appreciate assistance with the following:
-
Determine whether Xfinity can configure my NBA League Pass subscription or X1 DVR to prioritize the San Antonio Spurs broadcast feed for all Spurs games.
-
Determine whether this behavior is caused by DVR recording logic, NBA League Pass programming-guide metadata, or another technical limitation.
-
Confirm whether Xfinity recognizes this as a known issue affecting team-based NBA League Pass recordings.
-
Escalate this matter to the appropriate X1 DVR engineering, software development, or electronic programming-guide support team if necessary.
-
Advise whether a permanent correction, software update, or alternative automatic recording configuration is available.
My objective is straightforward: Automatically record every available San Antonio Spurs game using the Spurs' broadcast feed, without manually selecting the correct channel for every game.
I recently received a new X1 box and would appreciate a solution that allows me to fully utilize the DVR and NBA League Pass services for which I subscribe.
Please provide a case or ticket number for this request, along with the results of any technical investigation and recommended next steps.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Paul
