Domestic Abuse
My ex put services in at my address three years ago. He moved out two years ago and refused to cancel or transfer services (because he was in a contract and living at a residence that already had services). I had made numerous requests for him to cancel it so that I could get services in my own name. He has used this as a tool for manipulation and control for two years. I was not allowed to use the services (he would block my devices via the app), yet he held it over my head for two years that he was paying for them. Now it appears he has not been paying them and so the services had been shut off. I called Xfinity and told them what was going on and was instructed to bring my mortgage papers in to the store. I did and explained to them what had been going on, that my ex is mentally, emotionally and financially abusive and that this is just one example of his control. I have two kids who need internet for school. They canceled his account and gave me my own. Two days later I received a call from Xfinity stating that because he has a past due balance, I cannot have service at my own address. Again, I explained the situation and that the past due amount is between Xfinity and the contract holder. I have my account set up to auto-pay. Two separate accounts. But they told me I either had to pay his balance or my services would be shut off. Well, I am not going to pay any more for his abuse. It seems profit is more important. And getting a new customer who actually would pay her bill, doesn't matter.
