Do not fall for the free phone scam

I called to inquire about adding unlimited data to my home internet. I have my own equipment and no contract and I was talked into going on contract for 2 years to get unlimited data, the gateway modem and higher speed.

The customer service agent informed me that I had a free phone available to me as a gift for being a longtime customer and assured me that the phone wouldn't cost me anything and it wouldn't add another line to my Xfinity mobile service. I asked him multiple times about this specifically and he again assured me the phone was free and I didn't need to activate it unless I needed to swap out a phone on an existing line...... So I went for it.

Afterwards I saw that my credit card had been charged $49.66 cents for taxes....Lie number 1. I then noticed that my mobile service has an additional line waiting to be activated for that "free phone"..... LIE NUMBER 2.

Keep in mind the guy was from the retention department and they usually have people who can speak and understand English well so I thought it was legit. NOPE. I had to take off work to sign for the phone and then argue to get a return label after they told me in order to get a return label I needed to activate the line. LIE NUMBER 3.

Xfinity.......I will never go on co.tract with you ever and as soon as Metronet comes to my area, you're gone. I will also switch to Google Fi for my phones. I don't care what the cost is. My experience with your customer service is as bad a scammers calling me to sell me a car warranty and medicare coverage at the age of 45.

It's a shame, your service for me has stellar bit your customer service experience is like mental warfare and I'm left feeling like vacationer who is getting ripped off at a tourist trap overseas.
