Disappointment Over Loss of NFL Network & RedZone — Considering Leaving Xfinity

I’ve been a loyal customer of for years, largely because of access to NFL Network and RedZone. Losing those channels is extremely disappointing and makes me question the value of staying.

This is a big part of why I’ve continued paying for your service, and without it, I’m seriously considering exploring other providers that offer what I actually watch. Xfinity should be doing more to keep their customers happy, especially when it comes to key channels like these.

I’m undecided whether to wait and see if this gets resolved, but it may be time for me to move on.

I also am very annoyed about Comcast cutting off the NFL Network channel. I will consider changing providers if this situation is not resolved. Comcast charges almost $300/month and they can certainly afford to have a channel on that a lot of people enjoy

Losing the nfl network really blows! Why does xfinity keep raising my bill for then!? Seems like every other year, a channel gets eliminated, is it fare to still be paying more for less!? I'm about to switch to the dish !

We have been a customer for many years of comcast/xfinity. We have this particular plan specifically FOR the NFL network. Our bills continue to go up and fluctuate and we continues to be loyal customers. But that's definitely coming to a end if NFL network isnt added back.

Hello, @DRGil1975 I love RedZone too. Until an agreement is made, NFL coverage is available on FS1 (Fox Sports 1) with The Herd with Colin Cowherd, and with shows like Sports Center on ESPN or ESPN2. Xfinity TV customers who have ESPN as part of their TV package have access to the ESPN Unlimited tier of the ESPN app as part of their service (activation may be required). In addition, Comcast offers a range of similar, alternative content.

@XfinityThomasC Do you have an approximate date that the negotiations will be complete?  My husband wants notice so we can switch to streaming instead of cable...

Hello, @Nanaof7 that is a great question. We're still in negotiations with no current estimate of when an agreement will be reached. Once an agreement is reached that will be updated at this helpful website when clicking on the list for recent changes: https://www.xfinity.com/howitworks/

I’ve been of this company since it was Barden (grew up with the Barden family) Cable Vision. Then it went to Comcast cable, then Comcast, now Xfinity. I’ve always appreciated the connection with the NFL coverage. If you would have announced it to the customers, we may have been able to help secure another deal. Please get a new deal for us🫡

@KevWalkSr I apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused you. As an NFL fan I hope this is resolved by the first game.

In the meantime NFL coverage is available on FS1 (Fox Sports 1) with The Herd with Colin Cowherd, and with shows like Sports Center on ESPN or ESPN2. Xfinity TV customers who have ESPN as part of their TV package have access to the ESPN Unlimited tier of the ESPN app as part of their service (activation may be required).

In addition, Comcast offers a range of similar, alternative content. Free streaming services, like Xumo Play, Pluto TV, and others, offer a wide variety of sports and entertainment programming.

Also, paid subscription streaming services, like Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video, offer TV shows, sports, movies, documentaries, original content, and more.

@XfinityKei thank you for your reply, those are a lot of alternatives.  The problem is I like a show called good morning football, I have watched it since it’s inception five years ago.  many people watch the today show or good morning America. I prefer good morning football.  It’s not on the ESPN, it’s on NFL network.  ESPN does not have a channel that’s football all the time, They cover many sports.  I’m not interested in many sports, I’m interested in football.

It feels like just another service taken away with no relief To billing.  A few years ago they took away the remote app where I could sit in bed and change the channel on any TV in the house,  It was easier for me and my arthritis to control than the fancy remote and the guide was easier to read when it was on my tablet, which is much closer than my television.

Many of us subscribe to every service that Xfinity offers, me included. And some of us are currently looking for alternative programming, and another way to have the services provided at less cost, and more options..  Also me included.

I don’t want to pay for another subscription service to be able to watch football.  I pay enough for Xfinity that I should have access to every streaming service on the planet!  It just feels like things keep getting taken away, but the bill keeps increasing. I used to like the convenience of Xfinity. There are many features that I enjoy, but I am more than willing to give them up if I can pay less and get the services that I enjoy including NFL network and NFL Redzone.  I feel likethe things that I enjoy are being taken away anyway.

Well stated Charly1823.  I have been saying for years "Cable TV" should have a la carte services.  Only pay for the channels you want.  Why am I paying for 18 spanish-speaking channels when I don't speak Spanish?  Why am I paying for kids channels I never watch?  Pay for channels you watch, and when they can't be delivered due to negotiations, you don't pay for them.  Oh that's right, then Comcast can't make billions of dollars every quarter.

Hello @user_sxmvoi we're always looking for ways to improve as a company and appreciate the feedback of where we can implement changes to make a better TV experience regarding the choosing channels you'd like as part of your line-up and will pass that along to our corporate leadership.

Please know Comcast pays programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and, so far, Disney/ESPN has not proposed a deal that Comcast believes is fair for its customers. Comcast continues to work toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for its customers.

I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be inconvenient. Thank you for understanding. For more information, you can visit xfinity.com/programmingchanges.

@XfinityJustinC can you tell me why the contract wasn’t renegotiated prior to it causing this kind of inconvenience to your customers?  The pricing for the customer should not be the issue, you can’t tell me that Comcast doesn’t make enough money to cover the cost themselves and offered the same grade pricing to their customers, which honestly isn’t so great.

I dropped AT&T when they dropped NFL Network several years ago.  Looks like it's time to check out Dish Network.  Xfinity seems devoted to higher costs for less programming,

Its really unfortunate and quite pathetic that for the amount of money that cable companies like Comcast and Charter charge their customers for service, things like this continue to happen.  You corporations takeover smaller regional companies and immediately service goes down, prices go up and the customers are the ones who pay for it. Xfinity has horrible customer service,  the only thing you had going for you was some of the variety of available channels.  Now that's gone. I will definitely look for service elsewhere and hope other customers do the same.

@user_9g4y25

You should look at the NFL Network, not Comcast.  They are the one that is wanting to charge higher prices while Comcast is trying to hold prices down.  Of course, even though I've said that you aren't going to believe that.  Comcast is also a customer and doesn't want to pay any higher fees, just like you don't.  <shrug>

@Again who do you think can afford to pay for NFL network, me or Comcast?  are you trying to tell me that Comcast does not make enough money to cover the increase that NFL network, a very popular channel by the way, which brings in more advertising dollars for Comcast in the long run anyway, are you trying to tell me the Comcast can’t afford it? That they’re not making enough money to cover the difference?  Comcast should’ve started the negotiation six months prior to shutting it off to the customer, Comcast needs to understand that if one of their very popular channels who brings in a lot of advertising revenue is asking for more money there should’ve been negotiations earlier and paying a little more is part of the bargain.  they are worth it.  this entire situation was handled incorrectly, this is what has people so upset. Many of us are still paying the extra $10 a month for NFL network and NFL Redzone when we have no access to either one.  you’re not going to tell me that Comcast is in the right here.

@Charly1823

First off, neither you nor me know when Comcast started their negotiations.

Secondly, Comcast doesn't want to pay exorbitant prices, and does not want to pass super high prices to customers, regardless of what customers think.

Third, most everyone here is seeing only from one side - the customer side and your purse strings.

Fourth, we all know that in the end Comcast is going to have to pay high prices for the NFL Network and Red Zone.

Fifth, no matter how it works out between Comcast and the NFL Network, customers are going to complain about the fact their bill is going to go up.  Comcast is in the middle of a no win situation.

Bottom line, you're going to pay higher prices on your bill.

@Again What do you work for them or something.  There was no warning about this, we may or not see credit for signing up for the package and many of us signed up specifically to have those two channels.  We can complain if we want as customers,  im paying $300 month i think I can be a little angry if thats okay with you.

@Again  I do agree that the NFL is also a greedy corporate giant asking for more and more from their customers.  And even though Comcast doesn't want to pass along higher costs to consumers, they can, and will.  End consumers cannot pass the higher NFL costs nor the higher Comcast costs on to anyone - they have to absorb that.  Our only option is to complain and/or stop using the services altogether.  I'm not against ending support of the NFL or Comcast at this point.

You made good points, but since the higher prices are passed on to the consumer shouldn't the consumer get a drop in price when we lose a service? We have lost many services but our bill has only gone up, not down. When we lose something should we get a lower price adjustment as well?
