Did you just contact me recently or did I just about get scammed?

I just received a phone call someone was trying to give me a better deal on my internet and phone and talking about how my benefits I may not be getting all the ones I'm eligible for it sounded super convincing though it's sort of sounded like an AI voice, and then they asked me to confirm my account by sending me a six digit number that looked like it came from you guys's number but it didn't have the normal text saying don't hand out this number to anyone and that you will never ask for it, so I asked if they were a scam and then they said they were trying to confirm my account and one of the three ways, that I find out now looking on your website, you guys confirm whether I'm me and is also the way to get into my account without using the password, so after drinking around a little I hung up on them, 

This kind of situation is why I think the new method of sign in that everyone using nowadays is so unsecure.
