Device box reverts to “remote not working” activation issues

My device box sporadically stops working. The first screen to appear is a remote asking if my remote no longer works to get closer to box. 

In order to do anything I have to unpair my remote and the start my activation all over again. And go through loading all my saved movies and it has left out almost all saved movies now. This is completely unnecessary as I now have had two different device boxes brought to my house. And now I need another while at the same time my movies have all disappeared.
