Detailed data usage

How can I find out what's causing a huge increase in my data usage?  Is there a way to see what people are downloading on my account?

BTW, I'm not asking who is downloading, but what they are downloading.

Hi there, user_4309b1! We appreciate you posting here within the Community.

Please take a look at this link for me: https://comca.st/2XdvIld. Do you use a leased modem or do you have your own purchased modem that you use? If you used a leased modem, we highly recommend creating these profiles to help you narrow down some of the data consumption questions/concerns you have. It's a wonderful place to start! Let me know what questions you have.

I no longer work for Comcast

We apologize @user_4309b1. We do not have the capability to determine what is being downloaded on a third party modem. I would recommend you check with your modem manufacturer to see if you have the ability to do so.

I have also witnessed a massive increase in my data usage, starting in December 2021, but my usage behavior has not changed. I would like to know where I can find more detailed data about my network usage. Please note, I have an Xfinity modem and have already changed my network passwords to make sure there are no unauthorized devices on my network. Additionally, I have scanned for malware and found no suspicious activity. Nonetheless, I have seen my average daily usage go from about 15 GBs per day from July-Nov 2021, to 35 GB per day since Dec 2021. But again, my personal usage and the devices connected to the network have not changed.

@user_965b7a I'm in the same boat, and they had the audacity to tell me that it must be something on my end. I've been working in IT backend systems for quite a while now, and they told me in private message that everything is perfectly fine on their end! Even though I've already verified that nothing is consuming more data than usual, somehow I am at 80% usage for the month half way through it. This has never happened before, and I always average 850GB for the full month.

This started for me in December as well. Yet here we are, with comcast telling me it can't be their fault, only mine. What a joke. I'm just going to cancel the account and go with WOW internet for now. At least I don't see any nonsense of them wrongly reporting their data usage for customers.
