connection to remote server imap-east keeps timing out

I don't use a third-party for email; just Xfinity. Yesterday afternoon (11/4), I discovered that I couldn't compose or save or send emails and that I couldn't reply to emails. The message I kept getting was this: "The connection to remote server imap-east.ge.xfinity.com timed out while awaiting the response. Please try again later." Same thing today. I can receive emails, but can't reply to them or forward them to another email address I have (Gmail). What's going on??? I have hard-wired Internet and use a Chromebox. Internet and Chromebox function fine. It's the email that began yesterday to malfunction.

nchad Have you tried using another web broswer? Also, are you having any other issues on other sites by any chance?

@XfinityShawn  I have used Chrome as my browser for many years (after trying and deciding against using other browsers). I have NOT experienced any other issues on other sites using Chrome (Incognito). I have several non-Comcast email addresses, and today I started to use my Gmail one -- I didn't have any problems and I was able to compose/save/send emails and reply to emails with more speed than I'd experienced in the past with Xfinity. From posts I've seen already by customers trying to get through the "transition" to Yahoo for email, it appears to me to be a minefield. The Internet service has generally been fine, and the Chromebox works very well. I have a Windows 10 desktop to use only for offline things, programs, peripherals.
