Community does not work properly with Firefox 120 GPC enabled

Firefox 120.0 has added a GPC option (Global Privacy Control.) This is in the privacy settings as "Tell websites not to sell or share my data". This is breaking the community. I get a banner on top that I cannot remove.

Even worse, I cannot post something new, or do a general reply. The box for "Description" or reply is missing. I had to turn off the setting just to post this.

Hello @Andyross. Have you been able to get any help from the Firefox support team to resolve the issue?

The only response was the typical cookie/cache clear. That didn't help. In fact, I had to re-clear them and then relogin here to be able to post, as it got confused when I logged in with GPC enabled.

You would need to reach out to them to see if the GPC has any restriction with certain type of websites

On another computer with a FRESH install of Firefox and a FRESH profile with no add-ons or other changes, I get the same thing. I assume this is nothing than a flag set when Comcast asks for browser permissions, similar to the "Do Not Track" from years gone by. It seems as if this forum software is confused by it.

For one, here is the Mozilla support thread:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1431609

There is a response from someone who used Chrome and an extension that adds GPC support. They see the same problem. This is a bug in your code for handling GPC.

Hello, @Andyross and @OrlandoM, First, thanks for this information. @Andyross, I noticed that you are running Firefox on Windows and I can confirm that the same happened on the Mac. When one have on Preferences > Privacy&Security > Website Privacy Preferences enable they might encounter issues to post here on the site. The post or reply window field will be locked. The solution is to disable both features by checking both out

In addition, note that if you have "Privacy Badger Extension" from EFF, Electronic Frontier Foundation, remember to click on [Disable for this Site]

I have had the "Do Not Track" turned on, with no issues.

That said, since messing with cookies and who knows what, I am having all sorts of weird issues with the community forum now. It no longer remembers logins and I have to sign in every day. I again had the ability to make a new post or do a general reply disappear (no box to enter text.) I had to delete cookies again. I then signed in on the Comcast site first, instead of here. I still had to then sign in here, though. This is the ONLY site I am having any issues with lately.

Going back to the issue of getting locked while using the "Website Privacy Preferences" GPC, on Firefox, I found out that by checking out the

(  ) [Tell websites not to sell or share my data]

and leave the

(x) [Send websites a “Do Not Track” request]

Works best and do not cause any screen lock.

That appears to be a new "feature". Beginning a week or two ago, my forum logins seem to time out after an hour or so. Why they made that change I can't imagine, especially since the Forum "Sign in" doesn't seem to work properly. I find, as you said, that if I don't sign in to an Xfinity page first, using the Forum "Sign in" makes Comment and Reply toolbars disappear and their text entry boxes read-only. And I'm not using GPC.

Please be aware that there are 2 kinds of responses in this Forum: Replies and Comments. When you Comment on a post by scrolling down to "Comment on this post here...", I am notified of your response. But if you select Reply, I am NOT notified and may not be aware of your response.

In my case, if I have both WPP (Website Privacy Preferences) features checked, I will be not able to post a comment. If I unselect the first choice and leave the second selected, I am able to access the comment field with no issues.
