Comcast charging you rental fees for your OWN EQUIPMENT

In 2020 I spent hundreds to replace all my Comcast equipment with my own so I can save on my monthly rental fees. I upgraded my internet service because my wife teaches and all 3 kids are home full time remote schooling. Starting on 1/1/2021 Comcast has now punished customers by taking away unlimited HOME data and if you use over a certain amount of data now they charge extra. On top of that if you have your own equipment now you are forced to pay them rental fees of 30$ for something they don’t even own. I feel like i am being robbed of my
Money and strong armed for having my own equipment. I spent a lot of money so I can save in the long run, but with this new rule Comcast is enforcing I’m paying almost double what I was before I switched to my own equipment. It’s not fair During a pandemic that Comcast is doing this to they’re customers .

I'm furious as well. Spoke to an agent on the 6th, advised I'd save $25 bucks and still have unlimited but yet found out this morning that that is NOT true. I'd end up paying more. I hate Comcast. I purchased Netgear and they are not cheap, all to be told hey no, that's not the case. Mind you, I didn't have any contracts, now this on a contract. I told them. they need to walk it back, I'll look for something else, maybe because that's sickening that they charge you for your own equipment basically. Putting a data cap because they want to gouge you for more money. Then, took away Norton for this horrific "security" that I've only seen actually up maybe twice. Upgrades to the community, that have become downgrades dropping service and signal day and night, no exaggeration. I'm up all hours of the night with insomnia so I see it. I can't wait until the dynamics change with more players in the areas to jump ship immediately because if downgraded services disguised as "improvements" are supposed to be "Help" they can keep it.

Hope you get resolution. I have been having a basic functionality issue with modem for a month now that Xfinity has caused ( modem mfg and xfinity fix group tech )  confirmed. Broken promises, bullied by call centers, tech supervisors dropping 3 way calls with the modem manufacturer and so forth.  Am ready to start looking for HQ phone numbers to call  HQ.  Sorry to vent but i feel your fustration here...

If you're in a contract and you cancel before the contract is up you have to pay an early termination fee.  It sounds as though you're in a contract.  Home Security Services have a hefty ETF because of the nature of installation and then removal of equipment.
