COAX outlet activation

I am having problems gaming on my PC. I would like to move the modem closer into my room to plug in a ethernet cord. The current COAX outlet in my room doesn't work. How would I be able to get someone to activate it?

Thanks for reaching out @user_ow8p4e! I know how important a stable connection is for PC gaming, using an ethernet connection will provide significant improvements compared to a wireless connection. If the coax outlet in your room isn’t active, we can assist by scheduling a technician. Is this outlet in your room on an exterior wall?

I appreciate you for confirming that @user_ow8p4e. A wall fish is a method of running and “fishing” wiring through the drywall. This would require hiring a qualified third-party contractor or electrician that is capable of installing an RG6 Quad shield coaxial cable.

In most cases, our technicians install the modem in a central location of the home to help maximize the range of the wireless signals. Moving the modem could cause wireless connection issues on other devices in the home. Are you able to use a longer ethernet cable? Alternatively, is there a wall in your room that is an exterior wall?

Perfect! The technician would need to install the new outlet on that wall if you wanted to proceed with relocating the modem. There will be a charge to install and activate the new outlet. For assistance with scheduling the technician, please send our team a direct message with your full name, full address, and phone number. To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
 - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
 - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it.
