Closing an Email Account

My mother passed away in 2016.  I kept her email account active since then, but would like to close it since everything being received is spam / junk.

Hi, there @user_802ef0! Thank you for spending your time today to reach out to XFINITY over our forums page for help with closing your mother's email account. I offer my sincerest condelonces. My father passed away last September so I can relate to the pain that is caused when losing a loved one. You've reached the right place for help. Can you tell me if you have an account opened still in your mother's name? The reason why ask is because if the account is disconnected and you do not log in to the email account for 9 months, the  email account will automtically be deactivated.

I closed her Xfinity account in September of 2016, I believe.  I still receive emails for her.  So if I don't check her account for 9 months, it will auto deactivate?  I have it set up in my Outlook to check it.  I do not sign in on Xfinity to check it.

My condolences for the loss of your father.  Losing a parent is never easy.

Thank you for your reply.

I appreciate it. @user_802ef0. You're correct. Your mother's email will auto deactivate if you do not sign in or check her email in any way after 9 months. After 9 months, it will may take an additional 90 days for the email address to be fully deleted by XFINITY. Make sense?
