Cannot Enable Xfinity WiFi Hotspots Auto-Connect – Says I Don't Have Access

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to enable Xfinity WiFi Hotspots auto-connect, but I keep running into the following error message:

"You don't have access to Xfinity WiFi hotspots."

This is confusing to me because:

  • I'm a Gold tier member

  • I have a 1 Gig Internet plan

  • My account should be eligible for Xfinity WiFi hotspots as far as I understand

I've already checked that hotspot access is enabled on my account and tried signing out / signing back in, but the issue persists.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows what might be causing it?
Is there something specific on the account side that needs to be enabled, or is this a known issue?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am having the exact same issues. I have talked to customer service for hours and no solution. My Hotspot has been working fine for months, then I woke up this morning and I am getting a "Your Xfinity Internet service is not active" error and am blocked from using the Hotspot feature on all of my phones, regardless of model or operating system.

Good Morning, @user_fhv3kj! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums! I am very sorry to hear about the experience with attempting to access your Internet, is it only the Xfinity Hotspot or is the entire connection out within the home?

It is only the Xfinity Mobile/xfinitywifi/XFINITY hotspots outside of the home that don't work. My home internet works perfectly fine, no issues.

Hey there Cradles, and thanks for reaching out in our community tonight! Those Xfinity Hotspots are easily one of my favorite perks that come with the internet services since it provides me with connectivity so often when I'm away from home, so I definitely want to make sure you're able to take advantage as you should be rightfully able to with your services 👍

If you encounter the message "Cannot Enable Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspots Auto-Connect" it could be due to using a device that doesn't support the feature. For Android devices, make sure you grant the Xfinity app permission to install the Wi-Fi Hotspots profile by adjusting settings under **Apps** > **Special access** > **Wi-Fi control**. If you're using an iOS device, ensure the Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspots app is deleted, as it can cause errors. Additionally, the feature is not available for Android 10 and below or on iOS devices with different carriers. Please let me know if you have any questions, and check out xfinity.com/support/articles/about-xfinity-wifi-internet when you have time for more information 💪

I am experiencing exact the same issue, wifi hotspot suddenly not working and saying my tier does not have access. None of the solutions provided above here. Have you resolved your issue?

When you say: "Additionally, the feature is not available for Android 10 and below or on iOS devices with different carriers"  So if you have xfinity internet, and an iOS device with t-mobile service; then access to the xfinity wifi network when outside the home, is in accessable?

user_jjpvh7, I didn't send the reply above, but I believe my teammate was specifically referring to the auto-connect feature.

Out of the blue, I started getting incorrect password pop-up dialogs on my iphone when it was trying to auto connect to the xfinity wifi hotspots.
