Cancelling service

I called to cancel my service yesterday on 05/02/25. The service is still on and i seriously need it turned off now. How long will it take?

Hey there, @amanda22802! Good question. And you've come to the right place for help! Our team is awesome to work with because we'll always do whatever we can to provide you with all the information you need, helping in whatever way possible :) Generally, disconnection requests remain open for 10 calendar days, even when billing stops the day you submit your request. This can also mean your final balance may take 1 - 2 billing cycles to completely update since we bill in advance. In your case, I'm not sure what your cycle date is, but it's something to keep in mind. As long as you asked us to stop the service/billing you for service yesterday, that should be your officially end date. The service simply remains active for approximately 10 days until the order fully completes. Please let me know if that helps!

@XfinitySara someone else is trying to move into my apartment. Will they be able to start service there if mine is active for 10 days?

Hey  amanda22802 , It depends on the area that you live. Most areas your account would not prevent a new customer from getting started with an account. Our system would assume you were moving out and put in a disconnect order and email you. If you would like me to force complete a disconnect for you, I can have you send a direct message with your full name and address and we can close the account fully if the disconnect order you called in for is still open.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it.
