Can we record/view ChoiceTV content on XfinityStream without set-top box?

Hi!

We switched to ChoiceTV with 20hr dvr service a year ago & have been enjoying the flexibility of using both our remaining X1 box and XfinityStream on Roku.

If we decide to eliminate our X1 box in a few months (to offset the 2026 price increases) will we still be able to record/view 20hrs of content (using cloud dvr)? If yes, will there be an additional cost?

🙂

user_e31eb9_Robin_ thank you for using the Xfinity Community Forums page to reach out regarding your options to record and view certain content. Yes, you can use the Choice TV 20-hour DVR service without a set-top box. The X1 Cloud DVR can be accessed through the Xfinity Stream app or a third-party device, but a subscription to Xfinity Internet is required. This allows you to utilize the DVR service without needing a physical TV Box.

Hi, @XfinityMarcus ! Thank you!

We currently pay a monthly rental fee for the X1 box. Just to clarify: If we return the box and begin using X1 Cloud DVR thru XfinityStream (via our Xfinity internet sub) to record/view shows, would the box rental fee go away? I'm guessing it would, but I need to be sure.

user_e31eb9_Robin_ You can definitely return your equipment, just make sure to follow up with us after doing so, that way we can ensure the associated codes attached to the cost of rental equipment have been removed from your account.
