Hi, ! Currently to set up internet essentials you'd need to reach out to them directly. Keep in mind there are certain income or situational requirements for internet essentials. You also cannot have our internet service at that time that you put in the application. You can find out more information here https://comca.st/3rj1GoT.

If you want to apply for Internet Essentials over the phone please call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376).

Call Center hours of operation are from 8 AM to Midnight (EST), seven days a week.

If you want to make adjustments to your current account though, we can help with that, just let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Thank You for your reply @ComcastStarr

So, I qualify for the Internet Essentials program (low income/SSI) however, because  I am not a new customer I am ineligible? Why am I being punished (with ineligibility or must disconnect for 90 days) for being a current customer? That qualification requirement serve no legitimate purpose !

The point is that I am eligible, having me D/C my service and get internet connection after 90 days isn't gonna help xfinity, I could be paying them my monthly dues if I switch without the inconvenience.

Please help me!

We totally understand your concern, however eligibility requirements are set in place for this program for certain reasons. I would suggest reaching out directly to the Internet Essentials team to verify your eligibility. https://www.internetessentials.com/

We can review your account to see what possible options we have for your current services to make sure you are getting the best rate available, and maintaining value in your services.

To the Comcast customer who is being punished for being a customer, Comcast couldn't care less about anyone.  They raised my bill during Covid through the roof, in order to finance internet essentials.  I am struggling myself, and asked the same question.  Comcast robs one low income customer, to make it look like they are actually helping low income people.

Hello @user_058142. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you had with your bill last year. I know many of us went through some very hard times, financially. We had a number of programs in place last year to help our residential Xfinity customers, including the Xfinity Assistance Plan, long-term repayment options, and significant periods of time where customers would not be disconnected if they could not pay their bill. Some of these options are still in place now, including the Emergency Broadband Benefit that Comcast is taking part in to further assist our customers who are still experiencing financial hardship.

When a rate jumps up, it's usually because your previous promotion rolled off. To avoid the jump in the bill, I usually suggest to my customers to start shopping for a new promotion about one month before your current one expires. You can shop for new promotions online here https://www.xfinity.com/learn/offers or on your Xfinity My Account app any time. It's amazingly easy to change your services using our self-help options! Or if you prefer to work with a person, our social media experts are available here 24/7/365 to help you.

Becoming an Internet Essentials customer requires that you have not had Xfinity service for at least ninety days prior to applying for Internet Essentials. This is likely why you were denied when you researched it last year. We understand how important is was for everyone to have access to affordable internet last year, so it was important to us to be able offer this wonderful program to our low-income families who needed to work and educate their children from home.

I want to make sure your bill is manageable for you now, and I can also offer to review available promotions near you to make sure your bill is as low as possible. May I ask if your bill is still an issue? Would you like me to review your account and plan?
