Cable between pedestal and my own modem

What type of cable (coaxial? Cat ?) xfinity run between pedestal and my own modem inside my house?

Buffalo Grove, IL

This is new construction, pedestal is already build in next to my basement, on the lawn.

If Cat cable is an option as of September 2023, do you have a modem with Ethernet plug build into a modem?

@user_8f698b The cable used from the pedestal to the modem is Coaxial. The connection from the wall to the modem is also Coaxial.

Does xfinity/comcast offer modem which is connected to the pedestal using Cat6 cable?  My contractor has installed Cat6 cable from my unit to the outer wall, close to xfinity pedestal,  there is no Coaxial cable at all used.. He told me, that "it is brand new technology", "Coaxial. is old one, Cat6 is brand new."". is that right ?

@user_8f698b, that is a great question. Yes we do have modems you can lease that have ethernet ports on the back. Looking over this helpful document, I do see Cat6 or Cat6a mentioned for Ethernet connection in this article: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/requirements-to-run-xfinity-internet-service.

Besides leasing a modem from us, you can also provide your own modem if you prefer. We have a great tool to ensure you would have a compatible modem for the speed you choose: https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/#unauth.

I AM NOT asking for home network/LAN, I am asking  for the kind of cable being  used between pedestal and modem.. Coaxial only ? or Cat   may be used ? If Cat6 may be used, does Xfinity have modem for such aplication  ????.. ones again.. I AM asking for connection between pedestal and  my personal cable modem ONLY.. O N L Y ...

You still need a coax cable installed to go from the outside pedestal / tap to the inside of your building / unit where your modem would be located.

Thank You.. it is such answer I was looking for... BTW.. few months from now  my electrician will be ripping/cutting/mudding many many walls in our townhouse.. I told him about coax, but he ignored me, .. I have never ever heard about Cat5 or 6  being used outside my own network, I do mean , from pedestal trough the walls, and modem.  .I do have an internet ,, cable internet from 1997.
