Broken gateway--how to get replacement?

I recently signed up for an internet plan, and the xFi gateway I received is broken (see photos). This is how it came out of the box. (It's also dusty?)

I've tried using the Xfinity Assistant to ask how to replace it, but it keeps telling me to activate the service first. Clearly, I can't do that. Is there an email address where I can ask a real person for help?
