blocked keyword matches when nobody is online

My children all just got big boy/girl electronics and I set up blocked keywords and sites. Which I would like to say does not actually block anything, it just pulls it to the report without which device searched it. That is a different issue. For this, I set up blocked words for anything inappropriate and the word [Edit: Language] has shown to be blocked over 23000 times in less than 18 hours. That is including when they are sleeping and their devices are locked. Why are there searches like this coming through my gateway? I have a medium firewall, confirmed all logged in devices are mine, protected by Norton with their controls, and all devices are untrusted. What is going on?

Good afternoon, @Ironclad_dad! <Edited to tag user ID> Great job setting up parental controls for your kiddos! That is very important. The keyword blocking can be from any video/article on the site they are at such as YouTube. It can result in a high number of blocks at that site to ensure if it was searched for, all entries are blocked. Some websites cache information so blocks can still be shown though the devices are paused.

I am having this same issue as mentioned above, same situation and results. Does that mean that the keywords that are blocked were searched for specifically? Or just that they are showing up somewhere in the visited site?

user_bps98k You can add and enter keyword(s) that appear on websites you want blocked. Is this the process you are following? Set up parental controls for the internet

Yes, and I am showing many "attempts" happening, a bunch when we are all asleep or no one is home. I have recently reset everything on the modem and changed all passwords to ensure no one else is on our internet and verified all connected devices are ours. How does the timestamping work for these "attempts"? Could it be hours later that they register on the modem? (Since some attempts are while we are all gone from the house.)

Also, it shows devices that were blocked as well. Are those the devices trying to access the keywords that show "attempts"? Or why were those devices "blocked"?

user_bps98k Have you ever noticed devices appear on your network that do not belong to your household? You might check to see if the Xfinity Wi-Fi Home Hotspot is turned on, and turn it off to see if it resolves your issue. How To Turn Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot On or Off
