Being charged for a modem I have never had

I have no Comcast/Xfinity modem; I have always had my own, for the 25 years I've lived here.

But my bill shows a $12 charge.

How do I get rid of this charge?  Why did it ever appear?  Again, I have never had a modem from Xfinity / Comcast!

The good news is that Xfinity credited back the four months of charges for a device that I had not ordered, did not need (it was a "TV set top box", and I have no TV plan), and as far as I know, never received.

Not at all clear why they started charging me for it 4 months ago given that I've had an internet-only for over 20 years (always using my own modem), but hey... Comcast.

So keep an eye on your bill.
