Balance incorrectly reported to collections
June 2025 I spoke with a customer service representative about a charge that appeared after I’d cancelled our service. I was told it was taken care of and the balance removed. Come to find out not only was the account not zeroed out but that they sent the balance to collections. It is now dragging my credit down by more than 100 points. I spoke again to a Comcast rep at a store and was able to get the balance removed, but I still need a formal, signed letter on Comcast letterhead stating the the balance reported to collections was a clerical error. If I don’t get this letter, the home loan I’m applying for will cost me THOUSANDS more in interest. I’m told they cannot do this over the phone, the reps at the store aren’t able to do it as a legal representative for Comcast, and I’m yet to hear anything from the Notice of Dispute form I filed online. I literally just need this letter so I can fix the mess they got me in, but I can’t get anyone to give me a stupid one sentence letter. I’m sure I’m not the only one who may have had to pay more in interest for Comcast’s mistake? Class action anybody? Just need a letter, Comcast, ASAP!
