Arris SVG2482AC install no internet

Xfinity Internet & voice for seasonal rental.  Using my own modem, brand new, Arris SVG2482AC.

Brought it to physical Xfinity store to confirm it was compatible; was told it was.  After 3 days & countless hours between Xfinity, Arris Surfboard, community forums, online research, etc., I have WiFi, but no internet connection.  I don’t understand, as I have Xfinity internet @ home, Xfinity provided modem, which is an Arris model TG1682G, same exact configuration front & back.  What isn’t working or who can resolve- Xfinity or Arris Surfboard?

Thank you for reaching out. I hope you are doing well. If you already rent an Xfinity Gateway, you'll likely need to add your new modem online. We'll also need to update the account so you are no longer charged for the gateway if you want to use your modem.
