Are Xfinity chat assistants scammers after customer social security numbers

On Monday, I was using chat to get a refund for a movie I didn't rent. Shalini, the "Xfinity Assistant", said she would credit me $3.99.  Then she offered me a "limited time special deal" that sounded good. She then directed me to "Your personalized secure data link: [Edited: "Invalid Link"]"  for a fillout form for the special deal. But that link only asked for my social security number and date of birth. I told her that I do not give out my personal identification information, especially my SSN.  She tried very hard to convince me that my SSN would be encrypted and safe. Why does Xfinity hire and support SSN scammers? Does Xfinity screen their customer support chats for fraudulent activities?

Hello, @src12 thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums for support. You've contacted the right place for assistance to get your question answered. From experience, when Xfinity Mobile is part of the order it may require an internal credit check. The Iguard link is secure, and see that is part of the first url.

- Did the order in question have Xfinity Mobile on it?

"Xfinity Mobile" was not "part of the order." I have been a paying customer of Comcast/Xfinity for many years. Why now would you need an "internal credit check" that required my SSN? Why push your add-on products if I'm considered a credit risk? I've never heard of Iguard and why you think it is secure. I'll never give you my SSN, so you can stop wasting my time with calls/emails/texts asking me to switch to Xfinity mobile phone plan or other services since you believe that I'm not capable of paying for Xfinity add-ons. Feel free to contact me directly about my concerns.
