Are Comcast employees not allowed to discuss plan pricing?
Calling Comcast is like getting in line [Edited]. I'm honestly so tired of their rate hikes every year. I got an email this morning about how their amazing service is charging more to keep incredible service. Reading the email is like listening to a narcissistic [Edited: "Language/Inflammatory"] talk about how great they are before they [Edited: "Language"] your life.
So I go on the internet an look up what plans they have without a promotion. I see the cheapest plan they offer is 75 Mbps for $19.99. So I call them up (Kill me now) and tell the lady that can hardly speak english exactly what I want to do. As a side note I was on a promotion and was getting 800 Mbps for $40 a month. But I seen that promotion was about to expire. I looked up the current plan and to my shock that plan costs $100 a month. I remember getting an email a few months back about how they are upgrading my service for free from 600 Mbps to 800 Mbps.
I'm disabled and on a limited income so I qualify for the broadband credit of $30 this helps a great deal. What does not help is Comcast raising rates every year. In order to get in front of the enviable rate hike we continue my story. I ask the representative "What is the cheapest plan you offer" She starts to go into a sales pitch about promotions and the flex box. I'm like no... Can you please just tell me what your cheapest available plan is because I have a hard year ahead and I can't afford to have my bill increase. I tell her that I looked up the 75 Mbps plan and that it says it costs $19.99 a month. And imply that with my credit it would make my cost free. She says "yes" so I tell her this is what I want to do. After a lot of holding and her trying to talk me out of it she finally agrees to move forward with my original request.
We get to the part where I have to approve the change and click a link in the email she sent me. I immediately become angry when I see the monthly cost is $49.99 plus tax. I ask her again this is the cheapest internet you offer? So I am going from 800 Mbps for $40 a month to 75 Mbps for $50 a month? She again says "Yes" and you will pay $19.99 after your credit. I don't take it out on her but tell her that this is absolutely maddening and feels extremely unfair. My new bill has already processed and the charge is $24 with my credit.
How do you think I feel as a customer going from 800 Mbps to 75 Mbps after pleading with the representative to lower my bill and end up paying more for much slower service. After being completely calm and respecting the agent telling her that I'm about to have a hard year financially and that I need to keep my bill low. I have been a customer for years but I guess that means nothing in a world where money is the ultimate driving factor and if this keep up year over year some people are going to be priced out of service.
