Another victim of xfinity iPad scam
While talking with someone I believed was an Xfinity representative about lowering my bill, I was offered an iPad. I already had one and didn’t need another, but I accepted because I understood it was being offered to me.
I was never told I was BUYING the iPad. I was never told I would owe hundreds of dollars. I never knowingly agreed to a purchase or payment plan.
Now Xfinity says I owe hundreds of dollars for that iPad.
When I disputed the charge, I was told an internal employee note says I was informed about the charge. But the recording of the call? Xfinity says it is no longer available.
Then things became even more bizarre.
I received a call from someone claiming to be from Xfinity who told me I needed to return the iPad. I followed those instructions and returned it—only to later discover that the person who called me apparently was not actually from Xfinity.
So here is where I stand:
❌ I say I never agreed to purchase the iPad.
❌ Xfinity says I owe hundreds of dollars.
❌ The call recording that could potentially prove what was said is supposedly unavailable.
❌ I returned the iPad after following instructions from someone I believed was an Xfinity representative.
❌ I no longer have the device, but Xfinity still wants me to pay for it.
I have filed a complaint with the FCC and am continuing to fight this.
⚠️ PLEASE learn from my experience. If anyone offers you a “FREE” iPad, phone, tablet, or other expensive device, ask:
“Am I agreeing to pay for this?”
“Is there an installment agreement?”
“What is the total amount I could owe?”
And get the answer in writing.
[Edited: "Solicitation"]
I am posting this because I do not want anyone else to end up in the situation I am in now.
