All Emails Prior to 1/21/2024 Are Gone From My Account

Hello,

I have been using my comcast email for well over a decade now. I have just realized that all of my emails prior to 1/21/2024 are gone from my account. Can someone please help me in recovering them? There are emails important to my work that are now gone. I have never had this happen before, and I have always had access to all of my emails. I never delete emails in general, so obviously these were deleted without my consent.

Thanks

Good evening @Ethan156, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums with your missing email concerns. Our team will be happy to help. To confirm, have you checked your deleted folder? May I also ask if you are using our website to access your email or a third party server such as Outlook?

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have checked the trash folder and all other folders for them (archive folder, etc.). I am using the connect.xfinity.com website to check my email. My number of unread emails has dropped from many thousands (a bad habit of mine over the last decade+) to just 157. I can scroll to the bottom, and the last email I now have access to is from 1/21/2024. If I sort by date in Ascending order, the same email from 1/21/2024 is the first that appears (i.e. the oldest). They are nowhere to be found on my account at the moment.

I'm glad to hear that you are able to see your old emails in the 'recover deleted items' in the trash folder. That definitely is strange and it sounds like a technical issue may have occurred, we do apologize for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, we don't have a way to recover the emails more quickly.

So there's no way for a sysadmin to recover them all? It was already inconvenient enough to have them all randomly deleted in the first place, and now I have to scroll through thousands of emails just to recover them. And how will I know this won't happen again? My faith has been shaken in this email system, and this trouble with no help (aside from showing me where my emails were) is certainly reason enough for me to consider switching to a different email provider.

Additionally, after scrolling for several minutes, I have found this cache of deleted emails only go back to 12/12/2023 (about 1000 emails). Where are the rest of my emails and how do I recover them? The "recover deleted items" menu is now empty.

We understand where you are coming from @Ethan156, and appreciate your feedback. We take it seriously and are happy to forward it.

Rest assured, we want you to be confident in your email service and are sorry to hear that your deleted emails only go back to 12/12/23. We'd be happy to help troubleshoot further. To get started, can you please send us a Direct Message with your first and last name along with the service address on the account? To send a "Direct Message" ("Private") message: Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "Direct Message chat" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

We look forward to working with you further.

Thank you for confirming that you check your other folders @Ethan156 and that you are using the Xfinity connect website. Are you able to try recovering your deleted emails by following the instructions listed here https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/recover-deleted-email?

Interestingly enough, the old emails seem to be present in the "recover deleted items" button on the trash folder. Why are they there but not visible in the trash folder itself? Why were they deleted in the first place? Check out these images. The first one shows my trash clearly empty of everything except for 1 email. Then, when I click "recover deleted items", more appear as seen in the second image.

Now, I thought this was all dandy and I can just click "select all" to recover them all. Except, clicking "select all" only selects the emails that are loaded! So, I can only recover 50 emails at a time unless I scroll and load more. I have thousands of emails over the last year, and tens of thousands of emails over the last decade I want back. How can this be done?
